Classic Swimming Pool Games

Mission Place Blog, Jessup, MD Five classic summer games for your next pool party at Mission Place. Its July in Jessup, MD, and it is hot! To help you cool off, this month were bringing our residents five classic swimming pool games to play throughout the summer. Marco Polo is a classic summer game for the pool. One person calls, Marco! and the other people in the pool have to call back Polo! When the person calling out Marco! tags someone calling Polo! the person tagged becomes the new Marco. Octopus is another fun game for the pool. It starts with one Octopus and several fish swimming in the pool. The fish try to make it to the other side of the pool without being caught in the octopus grip. When a fish is caught, they link arms with the octopus and help them catch more fish. The last person to be caught becomes the next octopus. Pool volleyball is great for a big group. Divide and spread out over the pool. If one team drops the ball or fails to return a volley, the other team gets a point. You can also just try to see how long you and your friends can keep the ball in the air. Another great game to play is F-I-S-H. Its just like H-O-R-S-E in basketball, but instead of making shots, players show off their best tricks and flips in the pool. The other players must imitate these tricks or else get a letter. The last person left swimming is the winner. Racing can be another awesome way to have fun in the pool. Test your freestyle stroke or backstroke against your friends. Mission Place is a great place to live, and we have a resort-style swimming pool for your next pool party with friends. We hope that you get the chance to use it this summer! We ask that our residents follow basic safety rules no running by the pool, be aware of others in the pool, no rough horseplay when they use the pool. Also, please follow any posted signs and be aware that the pool is for resident and guest use only. We went over some classic games in this post, but we want to know what do you play in the pool? What new games should we try out this summer? Let us know in the comments!
