You can only stand on a balcony for so long. Is it time to add a something comfortable? How about repurposed furniture such as a heavy duty chest? A stool? Or perhaps a bench? Add pillows for a splash of color to the space.
There’s nothing that says summer like a vibrant green plant. Your balcony is the perfect place to add some of that greenery to your life. Add textures, colors, and scents to enrich your space, and bring a bit of the outdoors inside, too. The Plant Encyclopedia from Better Homes and is a wonderful resource if you need help deciding which plants to use on your balcony. The section on container plants is particularly useful.
Add some color. Colors can affect our mood. Depending on the colors you use, your balcony may be high in energy or calming. Fabrics, flowers, and objects can have a dual function to add both color and texture. Textures can also be added by using braided rugs, bamboo shades, or wicker furniture.
Use the wall of your balcony or patio to display items you wouldn’t necessarily hang inside; how about a kite collection to add a splash of color, or your favorite fishing rod and net? Colorful tapestries create a focal point on a balcony wall. You can also add a string of lights to create ambience for evening enjoyment.
